If you really knew me...

(self portrait 2010)

Nicole did this blog post, "If you really knew me". I loved learning these things about her and knew immediately I had to join in.

If you really knew me...

You would know that I work part time at a Doctor's office, that my mom is the Practice Manager of, and she has worked with the same doctors for 20+ years. You would also know that I pretty much hate it and don't belong this kind of work environment.

You would know that I am terrible with money, have little bills to pay and am a bit of a shop-aholic, even though 90% of my shopping consists of thrifting and clearance rack digging.

You would know that I am very caring, very easily will take someone under my wing and become quite motherly. I am currently trying to break the habit of carrying others' burdens.

You would know that when I was a kid I got sick a lot, and also played hooky a lot. I hated school. We later learned it was mostly social anxiety, and loving to be home and sleep in, of course.

You would know that I have a ginormous sweet tooth, I crave chocolate almost every day, I love decadent, melt in your mouth cakes and the like. Also if I have a bag of Sour Patch Kids, they won't last very long.

You would know that I am still learning to drive, haven't gotten my license yet, and have never driven on busy streets, it gives me anxiety and I want to have the freedom of driving so badly, but I am really good at stalling on the lessons...

You would know that I am rather messy and surrounded by clutter. I have great organization skills, but sometimes it seems to be organized clutter. I let clothes pile up around my room and have a bad habit of throwing my stuff on the floor, and leaving water bottles and empty cups every where...

You would know that I fight anxiety and depression. I am a very happy person most of the time, but what I sweep under the rug comes out full throttle every once in a while and I have a big, ugly break down that sometimes lasts for days. Getting through those is always very therapeutic, and I embrace my tears and stress and take them on as they come, knowing I will be refreshed and stronger than ever on the other side.

You would know that I had a twin sister named Andrea who died at birth. My uncle was the only one who saw her, he said we were absolutely identical.

You would know that I love and am very good with animals, and have been called Snow White on a few occasions.

You would know that my nickname when I was little was Doozer, I think given to me by my Dad. Sprouted from that was also DoozerDoo, Dooz and my not so favorite, DooDoo.

You would know that my brother accidentally shot me in the stomach with a BB Gun when I was little. I was wearing one of my sister's dance costumes at the time, it had a big fluffy tutu. I remember him holding me until my Mom and Dad came home, and I fell asleep in his arms.

You would know that I have the greatest Mom in the whole world. She is my hero and my best friend. She would do anything for her children and loved ones. When I was young all of my brother and sister's friends called her Mom. She passed down to me her loving, caring nature, and I thank her for every other personality trait she gave me, even the crazy ones.

You would know that I don't have a big family, of Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. I am very thankful for the huge and amazing extended family my boyfriend/fiance(Cody) has given me. They make me feel as if I've been around forever and I love them as if they were my own blood.

You would know that I have a dark side, enjoy horror movies and gross things, goth and punk fashion, Zombies and Vampires...

You would know that I love Whiskey.

You would know that I'll always be a 14 year old girl, obsessing over hot musicians, and dorking out over immature things like hats with kitty ears and rings with lipgloss inside.

You would know that Cody and I have made the life decision to not have children, we have many reasons for this and the people who know best understand and agree with our decision.

You would know that two years ago I had braces and loved them, I was fascinated by how they felt and worked, and all the creative ways my orthodontist had me wearing rubber bands.

You would know that I take long showers with loud music and sing my heart out, pretending to be a rock star, and it's one of my most favorite things to do.

I hope you enjoyed this, link me to yours if you did one as well! I love to getting to know people.

  1. I'm right there with you on taking long showers and listening to loud music while singing! It is almost as fun as singing loudly in your car :)
